Amasong Concert Dec 10

Amasong, Champaign Urbana’s Premier Lesbian/Feminist Chorus, would like to
invite you to our Winter Concert, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 11 at 4:00

Salute to the Silver Screen Theme of Nov. 20 Concert

The Capitol City Men’s Chorus has set its next concert for 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 S. Grand Ave. W in Springfield. A $10 donation is the suggested ad- mission.
Established in 2005, the cho- rus membership is open to any male with a musical interest that is 18 years of age or older.
Past concerts have been based on love songs, Broadway showtunes, holiday music, and old
radio shows. The group has also performed in the capitol rotunda and at various fundraisers.

Local leaders plan for interfaith round table

Equality Illinois and the Advo- cacy Council for Human Rights are sponsoring their second annual Interfaith Equality Round Table breakfast discussion at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17 in the Community Room at Bloomington Public Library, 205 E. Olive St.
The discussion will focus on the impact of state/federal legisla- tion on LGBT communities and implications for communities of faith and societal change; con- structive dialog concerning LGBT equality across faith traditions around issues we disagree on; and outreach to the LGBT community within and across faith traditions.
Clergy, lay leaders and central Illinois LGBT leaders are invited to attend the discussion. If you know of clergy, lay persons or community leaders who would be interested in partaking in the discussion, please share this information with them. A light breakfast will be served.

Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus a Success!

Chicago Gay Men's Chorus

More than 150 lgbt people and their supporters attended our June 18 DIVAS – Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus concert in the auditorium at Normal Community High School.

The chorus wowed the crowd with dance routines, video presentations, and backup provided by the band the guys brought with them from Chicago.

Net profits from the concert will help the Advocacy Council pay for attorneys fees and application fee to file as a new, 501(c)3 organization.

Bistro Co-Rec Softball Team in Action

The Bistro Hooks, the bar’s co-rec softball team, will see action this month as part of Bloomington’s Parks and Rec softball league.

The Hooks next game is at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 11, when they will take on “LeDec” at Bloomington’s O’Neil Park.

The Hooks also play a 7 p.m. game on Monday, July 18 when they go up against PII, again at O’Neil Park.

Please consider getting to O’Neil Park and cheering on these athletic guys and gals!

Get tickets now for the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus!

Join us for DIVAS! The Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus in Concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the Normal Community High School Auditorium, 3900 E. Raab Road in Normal.
 
Tickets will be available at the door or in advance at the Garlic Press (108 North St., Normal) and The Bistro (316 N. Main, Bloomington).  All tickets are $15.

With more than 150 singing members backed by a small army of volunteers, the CGMC family covers a diverse cross-section of the Chicago metropolitan area. Under the visionary guidance and inspired direction of Artistic Director, Patrick Sinozich, CGMC delivers a distinctive brand of entertainment that keeps our audience coming back again and again.

This concert is the Advocacy Council’s major fundraiser for the year. Proceeds will be used to help continue our educational, advocacy, and community service activities

Advocacy Council participates in Springfield Pride Fest

Members of the ACHR were among more than 1,200 people who attended the first-ever Springfield Pride Fest on Sunday, May 22 in downtown Springfield. The Advocacy Council sponsored a booth where we handed out newsletters and information on our June 18 Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus Concert and this fall’s “Your Normal LGBT Film Festival.”

State Representative to join Decatur group at June Pride Picnic

Save the date! Family Reunion Picnic coming up in July

The Advocacy Council will again sponsor its annual “Family Reunion” Picnic beginning at noon on Sunday, July 24 at Underwood Park in Normal.

The council will provide grilled items and paper products. Attendees are asked to bring a food item to share.

Games, a raffle and lots of fun are in store…be sure to mark your calendars!
